<1) Failed Jersey inspection for "smoke" in exhaust, and (get this...)
"failing to provide driver's license and insurance papers" (he didn't
ask - guess its my "boot camp" for dealing with Nazi Jersey). Any tips
regarding the Jersey smog test (e.g., STP, Slick-50, etc...)?
2) Engine also cut out - loss of current -that damned battery cable
again! Has anybody implemented a sure-fire way to properly ground the
Alpine. I was thinking of a custom-made "Y" cable that would connect
the battery terminal, the chassis (like current config) and a third leg
to the engine block.
Also, word: stay away from the Wayne Motor Vehicle Agency in Wayne,
NJ...the nastiest, sourest, people I have ever met! un-real!

I never took my Alpine to the NJ State Inspection Centers. It's not worth
the hassle. They are so militant with their attitude, and clearly hate what
they do. I pay my 20 or so bucks and have my local mechanic inspect the
car. That way if there are any problems, he helps fix it to pass, instead
of simply putting a "Failed" sticker, and telling me to to try again. I
figure in the time wasted on line, and being treated like dirt, it's well
worth the money to stay away from Inspection Centers.
Good luck!
