There is something I would like to correct in a recent article in the Alpine
Horn about me and the Dual weber manifold story. It states that I did most of
the work to have some dual weber manifolds cast and this is not true. I am
going to send a letter to SAOC to correct this misunderstanding and I would
like to make sure I have the story right. I know most of the list has not
read the article but the guys who reproduced the manifold did a lot of hard
work to get the manifolds in our hands and they deserve all the credit for
doing a great job. Anyone who has had an Alpine part reproduced knows how
much time and effort it takes.
So here is the story as I remember it.
In early 1996, I believe that David Gaab started doing some investigation on
having some Alpine dual weber intake manifolds manufactured. Later on, I
believe Jay Laifman took charge of the project. Ramon Spontelli loaned his
original manifold as a prototype and made lots of improvements to the original
design. We needed to order a minimum of 6 manifolds and when we could only
find 5 people interested, I said I would order two just to get them made.
Does anyone have any corrections to make to the paragraph above? Thank you.
Tom
