With a timing light connected, and the vacuum advance hose
disconnected, verify that the timing is correct, and write the timing
down.

Next rev the motor to around 4000 RPM. The advance should be
between 22 and 25 degrees depending upon the model distributor
you have. This will give a an total timing spec of around 30 to 33
degrees if the static timing was set to 8 degrees BTDC.

This will take some improvisings, but...
Connect a temporary line from the brake booster vacuum fitting on the
intake to the vacuum adv line.

The timing should advance appreciably ~10+ degrees.

If it passes both tests, look into the accelerator pump and nozzle.
It should have a good sized clean looking stream of fuel discharging
from the nozzle when the throttle is opened.
