Even the repair procedure indicates that they never considered
machining the rotors an option. They state to check with a dial indicator for
run-out, and if not in spec, to try bolting the rotor to the hub in a
different position, to change their relative positions.
VW currently recommends replacing their solid rotors, rather than
machining..... something I would GLADLY do with my Alpine, if I could get
rotors for $20 or less, like the VW!!
