Bad Parts!

Alpiners,

Ok, now I'm really mad.

I am just completing the end of building yet another motor for my
61 Alpine.

The latest, as many of you are aware, mixes the best of every
part available, to build what could best be described as an
ambitious attempt at really high performance, but enough of
this as I am really PO'd.

Here is the deal.

I buy a pretty fair amount of sunbeam parts, both new and used.

I just bought about $500 worth of new "sunbeam" parts to build
the above motor from one of the more reputable parts vendors.

I just got to inspecting the parts, and everything was there, but upon
closer inspection, I have found certain parts are sub parr.

Nothing new here, we all get garbage from time to time.

Heres the deal though.
Enclosed was a "new" set of lifters, which cost over $9 USD
each.

6 of the 8 lifters had pitts and voids in the lifter face, and all 8 had
breakouts at the top edge of the lifter.

If it had'nt happened twice before from the SAME vendor, I wouldnt
be gripeing to you now.
I have complained to the proprieter, who always graciously takes
my parts and trades them in for some cherry picked pieces to
passify me, or gives me my money back outright.

I would have thought that having dealt with me on this on more
than one occasion on this issue, that the outfit, would inspect
and purge the bad stock.

I guess not.

What is the deal hear?
Anyone bought lifters in the same condition?
Am I suffering statistically improbable sequences of bad luck?

Where is this garbage coming from?

Where do I get a good set of lifters and for how much?

Vicky Brit, who has earned my wrath on many other ocassions,
sells the parts for less, and the parts were free of defects.
I would buy the parts from them, if I had not allready swore
an oath never to be swindled by them again.
Anyhow, just because the parts didnt have visible defects,
does'nt mean they are any good.

I have to defend the proprieter, becuase it is not in his
nature to swindle, I just get PO'd being in the quality loop,
and still getting sh&tty parts.

Classic Sunbeam is NOT the outfit in question, but I would love
to get a reply on this matter.

Curt?
