Apples to oranges.

Go klank your rods, they wont ring well either.[rods are forged]

Even the cast crank will ring a for a while.

The cam as would a cast crank, will have a high spring rate.
Steel is higher yet.

I do not know the metaurgical properties to which this relates.

The crank will model as a series of springs and individual masses.
The mass*spring rate form the resonance of the "bell".

The cam is all spring, and little mass.
It vibrates at a much higher frequency, and takes a ton of energy
to get it to resonate.

Lets get the crank question resolved, then we'll klank some
cams.
