All-Are you fed up with a car with a dwell angle that flucuates from
50-70 and an Alpine whose rpms flucuate wildely at idle. Then do what I
did today and fit a reconditioned distributor. (mine came from Classic
Car Developments aka Chris and Julie Drayton in the UK). I almost fitted
electronic ignition but in the end tried to keep things stock.
The change is amazing. The car starts better, runs better and idles at a
constant rpm. The other interesting thing is the car has many times the
accleration it had previously. I suspect that over the last 30 years
wear in the distributor springs and mechanicals has destroyed the
correct advance curve and I got it back today.Its like a new car
