Hi Folks,
Will someone do me a favor? Please look at the back of your seat and
tell me what shape is the cardboard backing of the rear part of the seat
upper.
I am finishing new rubber bladders, foam cushions, and seat covers on
mine and the rear cardboard piece was rotted out so bad I can not tell
its shape. To explain furthera; the seat upper uses two pieces of
cardboard - between the seat foam and the frame and another between the
frame and back upholstery. The front one is easy. It is cut to the
shape of the seat frame and fits neatly. The back one is the one that
confuses me. It is cut to the seat frame also, but at the bottom there
is a flat plate that protrudes from the shape of the seat back and
connects the seat upper to the lowe. This plate had upholstery on it.
If I cut the rear cardboard to the same shape as the front, it leaves a
void quite prone to damage where this mount plate projects out from the
curvature of the seat. Is that piece of cardboard cut to go clear out
to the mount plate (leaving a void between the cardboard and seat back
frame)? or... Is the cardboard cut to conform to the seat back (leaving
a void between the upholstery and seat back)? or...???
Thanks for your help,
Steve VR
