Well I am pretty old and am listed in the Guiness book as being the
oldest living Sunbeam mechanic (having started in their bicycle
division in 1904). Old Black Jack Pershing always said I was his
favorite wrench and that either me or Capt. Eddie would become famous
as a result of our mutual air escapdes.
Well as the records show....Rickenbacker became our most famous ace
with 26 kills, while in my first aerial encounter (poor visibility ,
clouds, after sunset) the plane I brought down happened to be one of
ours.
This of course gave Eddie a clear shot at becomming the nations hero,
while I lost my wings and returned to the motor pool. But hey!
thanks for asking.
