I don't understand why you can't bolt any overdrive to any
gearbox. From what I can see, all D type overdrives are identical, except
for the tail end of the D types for the alpine. A D type overdrive should
fit any transmission with the overdrive output shaft that was originally
designed for such a unit as long as you use the correct adapter plate. I
have a D type overdrive off a Volvo that bolts right up to my series II
tranny using the Alpine adapter plate. Of course the rear annulus is
different, but I can overcome that problem using an MGB drive shaft.
On a seperate note, are there any roll bars that can be used with
the early cars that do not interfere with the access to the rear panels
and soft top stowage?
Thanks for the advice on the rear sway bar. Anybody need a stock
series V rear bar?
