Sorry to react so late, after 3 months, I quess?

I took a heat shield straight from a baby 'cuda (=Alpine hardtop of early
70's), and it fits straight under the Strombergs to the Mk 5 intake
manifold. It locates between the manifolds and works dual ways: it is a
shield against straight heath radiation, preventing fuel boiling in carbs.
It also prevents petrol leaks to drip straight to the exthause manifold,
which is often so hot it is near to the flaming point of the most dangerous
fractions of the commercial fuel.

That shield is a simple pressed plate, which seem to crack easily from
vibration. It fits under the carb fixing bolts and is so large that petrol
drops fall fairly off from the manifold.

When thinking about Stromberg's easily jamming flow valves, that piece of
metal is a good invention.
