You might try widening your spark plug gap. That should do
essentially the same thing that you have done with your loose spark plug
wire...increase the resistance in the circuit and require a higher voltage
to jump the gap. I have found that some cars run better with a higher
plug gap, even though the factory settings denote the lower gap.
