Hi everybody,
Many thanks for the replies I got. By the way John, the overdrive is
original so I do not suspect "foul play" due to non original parts on the
car. I am puzzled at why it fails to engage when it worked so well untill
about a month and a half back. I am thinking of dismantling (sometimes that
word scares me!!!) the solenoid for the overdrive and cleaning it out. I
will keep you informed whether it worked or not.
Check the oil level in the tranny, low oil means low pressure in the OD and no
engagement. Also, turn on the key but do not start the engine. place the car
in 4th gear and engage the overdrive. You should hear the selenoid engage, if
not check the electrical. Have had problems in both areas myself.
Thanks again for the replies I got. (Andy, whre did you get all this info on
steel thickness anyway?!?!?)
