Is it possible that the outside temperature has an effect upon the tach or
the speedometer? In the morning on the way to work when it is in the 60s,
it seems my rpm is reading lower, relative to speed, than it reads on the
way home, when it is in the 80s - or my speedometer is reading higher
relative to rpm. Or, am I just imagining it?
Still have not got my speedo recalibrated since installing the OD, so it's
reading quite a bit fast, and when it shows more than 60 mph, it starts the
wobble - even though the cable and housing are brand new. So, it's kind of
a guestimate that there is a difference at the speeds I'm normally
travelling at.
Speeking of fixing speedos, it seems most places want about $100. After
buying a house, I just don't feel like spending any more money. Is there
any way to get the replacement gears to do it yourself, rather than paying
these folks to do it? I've taken apart a speedo before. It's not too
difficult.
