Jarrid Gross also talked with Unitrax, and while they couldn't help,
they did refer him to their supplier, Gear Vendors, in El Cajon (San
Diego). Jarrid couldn't call, so he asked me to, which I did. I talked
with Homer Eubanks at Gear Vendors who looked up the applications for
the D type overdrive. While he had no listing for Sunbeam, he did show
Volvos of various types and the MGB 1800 of 1962-1968. Apparently the
MGB and Volvo used the same 25% reduction which I understand we need for
our Alpines. If that's true, you would think Moss or some other major
supplier for MGBs would have the necessary D type overdrive unit and
output shaft for us. Anyway, if that's not true, Homer is very
interested in talking with someone more technically oriented than myself
about possibly producing the necessary components, using the J Type
overdrive unit, which they currently supply. Jarrid, if you or someone
else in San Diego could visit Gear Vendors we may be on to something
here. Gear Vendor's phone number is 800-999-9555, and ask for Homer
Eubanks. Please report back to the rest of us.
