Camshaft - fuel pump lobe scoring- AC pumps- moan!

I've forgotten how the recent thread on fuel pump arms affecting the
camshaft lobe ended up, but when I removed the cam from my singer-vogue
1725 block last night, the lobe for the pump was badly scored - nearly 2 mm
deep, the same wide. the score wasn't even concentric - it veered fore and
aft.

I'm wondering if this might be caused by fitting a *similar looking fuel
pump from another engine*:
I'm sure the glass-topped pumps on the old 1960's Fords I used to drive
looked nearly identical, but I'll bet the pump actuating arm was specific
for each engine application.

I've now got an unrecoverable camshaft (which may or may not be for the
iron-head...)
And maybe the wrong fuel pump....
And the cam bearings are all rusted up...
...at least the bores & pistons are good!

Just having an early-morning moan, sorry :-(
Andy
