Seems to work fine. I decided to between alternator and battery, not
between alternatory and battery/12v circuit. Thanks to all (especially
Jarrid, Steve & Frank) for your responses - I would have butchered or
dumped this car long ago if it was for the list!
Result: shows ~ 15 amps for about 3 seconds after starting, quickly
settles downs to ~ 2 to 5 amps for about a minute. I had bought a +/- 50
amp meter (w/ hopes of modernizing to bigger charging system) but now
thinks should have purchased +/- 35 instead for better resolution.
Voltage jumps from 13.5 Volts to 14.5 volts after starting (should it be
15-16volts?).
Are these number consistent with others with stock charging for series
V?
