In my Series V, I found the top half of the cowl to be discolored and dirty - the bottom half was fairly clean and in excellent condition. After removal, I noticed there was a plastic coating of some kind that was chipping off the top half, but fairly intact on the bottom. I cleaned everything and I tried to determine what I could use to match the top to the bottom - The bottom wasn't a gloss finish by any means and besides I didn't want a high gloss look for it anyway. I found a very light coat of a satin finish paint was a perfect match - it has a nice sheen to it, and the paint is thin enough that it looks great and not like it has actually been painted.
