The way I see it is this:
You could drive down to OC look at the two cars and all the associated parts
with the money in your back pocket and say to yourself "this looks like a
worthwhile project" or "what a pile of crap!" and make a decision on your own.
Wow!
all I was trying to do was pass on some useful info to my fellow enthusiasts
Sort of like how when I see one in the paper I post the info. Someone chooses
to call or not that's up to them.
People sometimes tell me "hey theres a guy in Van Nuys with a ser III he's
parting out you should give him a call to find that window crank your looking
for." etc.
Sometimes I call sometimes I don't but when the guy who heard me talking on
the phone once about a serII for sale and told me about a serIII in a local
junk yard I first went to the junk yard to see how much of the car was
salvageable and then went up to palmdale and bought the serII for $600 because
I knew I would be able to pick up a set of four wire wheels for $40 and entire
front end of sheet metal for $70(hood included) and two doors for $10 each
etc. See I was happy someone had taken the time to turn me on to this parts
car so I would be able to make something out of the SerII I bought.
Now, like a lot of the rest of us I am a Alpine enthusiast and I would
encourage the purchase, restoration, Racing, Driving, Owning and collecting of
this fine Rootes Group products.
I get involved with the rest of my fellow enthusiasts by contributing an
occasional technical recommendation, an amusing anecdote, and sometimes
purchasing opportunities that I see in local periodicals that someone else
might have overlooked. Apparently this is inappropriate . Forgive my
naivete`.
I think that in the future I'll keep all the info to my self.
