You can do this yourself. Buy some 3/4 hardwood dowel to start. Use it for the laygear dummy shaft.
Does it grind going into third, or pop out of third?
Third gear synchro normally doesnt fail, because second goes first, and then the box is usually fully rebuilt.
If it pops out of gear (common in 3rd), you'll be needing a new 3rd/4th shifter fork, an possibly new thrust washers on the laygear.
