break rotors

I am rebuilding the calipers on my S V driver and called Rick at Sunbeam
Specialties for parts. He told me that the rotors should not be turned
less than 0.450". Both of the rotors on the driver miked at less than
0.390 and one of my parts cars had rotors that miked in the 0.410
range. The some day to be restored S V's rotors
were the best of the lot and after turning miked at 0.437". Is there a
problem running under sized rotors? How far down can you go? If my
0.437 rotors are unusable where do I go to find quality rotors? Rick
says that he won't sell what is available.
Thanks
