Listers,
I have just received a front bumper and grille for my
1953 Sunbeam Talbot saloon back from the platers and am very
satisfied with the quality of the plating. However, both items required
straightening and this was not done correctly. The grille is too wide
at the bottom and the bumper should be more rounded at the ends to
coincide with the shape of the splash panel in behind.
I realize that it is too late now, but what have others done to
ensure that parts requiring straightening are bent correctly? Do you supply
a template (5' wide for the bumper) to the shop? Why do they feel that they,
the shops, know the shape the parts should be. Why don't they ask for
templates? This is going to be a more expensive repair than originally
planned for. I'm just looking for comments from those who have "been
there, done that".
Regards,
Bob
