I agree! I'm about to place an order to replace the seals on my doors
and windows. Everyone should go to Rick's. The BEST place for
rubber. In the past, when at work and in a hurry, I've called VB
because they have a 800 number. I've felt victimized over their
rubber. Really bad!.
Recently, I needed a fuel pump. VB's catalog said they had a repro.
Asked the nice lady on the phone "That means it is like the old AC
Delco pump with the glass bowl, right." She told me "It says
reproduction". You guessed it, no bowl! Jeez, I could have gotten
that from SS or even my local AC distributor. They do make a modern
replacement.
Point being, I've become very frustrated getting parts from big
outfits who sell to more than one type of car. If I wanted a teen who
didn't know what a Sunbeam was, I could go to my local auto parts
store. Rick knows Sunbeams. I bought my V in '86 in San Diego.
EVERY pump on my car died within two monthes. I did a lot of business
on the phone with SS. The Navy then sent me to SF for 1 1/2 years. I
met Rick on several occasions. He took a lot of pride in obtaining the
best available. Not always an easy task. Now that I live in Louisiana
again, I still order from him 9 out of 10 times. (OK Rick, I've said
all these nice things about you. The next time I call, I deserve a
discount! Oh yea, please get an 800 number at least!)
Not that the folks on the East Coast aren't good. I just haven't
dealt with them. I'm sure their are several I don't even know about.
OK, off the soapbox. Anyway, I joined this about a month ago and have
had a blast. I have been in a wilderness populated with MGs, TRs and
Jags for 8 years now. They just DON'T understand why I love my
Alpine. If any of you live near Baton Rouge, let me know.

I made the mistake of thinking I could get a better deal on rubber from VB
and bought their kits. What I ended up with was a lot of rubber that
barely worked, or didn't work. I ended up buying so many pieces again from
SS, who spends the time to make sure the parts are a close to the original
as possible, and done right. It's worth the price.
See, I'm ok, I'm still reading these e-mails and responding. Right?
