The gearbox switches are mounted "screw into" the sides of the shifter plate directly above the transmision box. The switch is mounted so that it closes only when the tranny is in the 3rd or 4th position, which falls on the same side of the H pattern.

The self cancelation feature allowed automatic disengagement of the OD when shifted out of the 3rd 4th H gate. What is did was to interupt current from the latching OD relay. OD will then have to be re-relected at the coumun switch after the H gate is reset to the 3rd 4th position. This is different from the earlier system that used just a simple relay that would re-engage OD on 2nd to 3rd gear if the OD collumn switch had been left on.

The wire bundle should go from the tranny area to the right side of the firewall in a direct path under sheet metal hold downs welded to the body. It will also have a large gauge wire returning to the OD to the solenoid through the same path.
