I grew up in Coventry and both of my parents worked for Rootes, in fact that's where they met. Once I arrived on the scene my mother quit but my father continued until he left shortly before Chrysler closed down operations in the UK. If my memory serves me correctly when Chrysler sold out to Peugeot, the new operation was known as Peugeot Talbot. In Australia, Chrysler operations certainly outlived their counter-parts in the UK, I assume because of the Australian preference for the BIG US cars (Valiant, Charger etc.) rather than their mid-sized counter-parts. Also, Chrysler's principal 'strategic alliance' in Australia was with Mitsubishi so I doubt whether Chrysler and Peugeot were ever linked in Australia.

Question for downunder readers: what happened to the Aussie plant(s) where Hillmans and Humbers were built/assembled? Are they also making Peugeots, or.........?
