I am in the process of upgrading my Series V alternator. After investigating the information found in the alternator conversion tech note on the Alpines page, I located a 50 amp alternator that is the same form factor as the factory Lucas unit. I believe it is the "manufactured by Lucas for Mitsubishi" unit mentioned in the aforementioned tech note. It bolts on and is internally regulated an can be bought at your local autozone for about $60.00. The last detail to work out is the pulley. The Alpine uses a 13mm wide belt and the new alternator uses a 17mm wide belt and the #%$^% pulleys are not interchangable. I can provide the part number and addtional information if desired.
