Hi Rich, I live in Bentleyville, PA about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. Since I've had my Sunbeam, I've ran antique plates. I agree with you that not driving at night is a big drawback, but the thought of fighting with the inspection of the car seemed worse. I have a hard enough time getting my 90 Dodge Spirit and 90 Ford Tempo to pass. Does anyone know if cars with Classic plates would require smog inspection in PA?

Tim Stiffy Alpine Series I ---------------Original Message--------------- Hi folks...

Since I moved to PA last November I've been trying to find out whether it's better to register my Alpines and classics or antiques. I was told by the PA DMV that, if I register them as antiques, I can't drive them after dark. If I register them as classics, I'm subject to annual inspections. Does anyone in PA have a suggestion for me. I'm way behind this year getting them on the road again.

I've been carrying J.C.Taylor insurance on my cars for several years and had antique plates on them when I moved from NJ. With all the reasons I came up with in 50 years to move from NJ, being able to drive my Alpines after dark almost makes me wish I didn't leave the state [Yeah, right - not even close]. Thinking about Governor Whitman, insurance rates, taxes and that new bogus 65 mph speed limit snapped me back to reality real quick.
