Call me a pessimist, Frank, but this might well indicate serious corrosion in the central sill and "B-post"/(spring hanger) area, with the car starting to fold up under it's own weight. it might not, of course, but if it is rotten, that'd mean some serious surgery / metalwork. Inspect carefully, from underneath and inside the rear arch, and ask about what work has been done previously, if any. (I'll be glad to help if you want to know more precisely what to look for)
