Well, thanks for remembering me !! Yes, this is a project that I had been working on. I agree with the idea that this is the ultimate Sunbeam Alpine possibility!. This engine is very light, aprox the same weight as 1592 Alpine (Aluminum head) engine, and is capable in exsess of 400 HP and 9,500 RPM. The engine is a very short stroke (2.8") engine which really helps to keep it small. It also has a small flywheel diameter which "looked" like it would fit in the stock Alpine (series IV at least) tranny tunnel opening. This engine with the stock 4 spd bellhousing, will accept any GM gear box 3,4,5 and maybe even the camero/corvette 6spd (haven't checked the bolt pattern.)

The major problem was steering. The steering box is in the way. So something has to happen to improve that situation...

I have heard that there are some Alpines running around in England with the Rover engine (same basic engine) in them and i would like to hear from anyone who has seen, driven or built one in England. !! Please !

Rich (my project was put on hold in 82-83 when I ra out of money and time, and sold the car....I kept the Engine though !!!)
