Just a note on some of the filters available. I bought a nice, shiny, new chrome, see thru, in line gas filter for my Series V when I rebuilt the carbs and ran into a problem. While crusing the freeway at 80mph, the engine started to cut out after a few miniutes. First I thought, I forgot to tighten something on the carbs. I slowed down to 65mph and it smoothed out again. I later found out that these filters were too restrictive and would not allow the proper volume of fuel to flow to the carbs. I removed that nice, shiny, filter and bought one of those litte plastic ones just like the old VW uses and it works great!
