diff removal, Steamboat Springs

This morning I thought I'd finally pull the
rear end to see why it's so sloppy. I pulled
the drums (they were reluctant but came off anyway)
and discovered a dirty slimey cylinder on the
right wheel (the one I hadn't checked before,
naturally.) I got new shoes, but not a
cylinder kit. I first thought it was leaking
brake fluid, but after I pulled the axle, I think
the oil was from a deformed seal leaking gear
oil. Anyway, I got both axles and all the nuts
off the differential but it still won't budge.
Stopped to give blood this afternoon, but I'd
like to get it out soon. What do I have to do
to get it loose?
In other late breaking news, I'm attending
a conference near Aspen the week before
Labor day so I thought I'd go to Steamboat
Springs for the Labor Day weekend event.
Anyone know anything about it?
