Then use the 3.09 that goes in the V6 Capri that the engine might have come with.
The capri rear is a good one as far a power goes, and since the alpine is lighter, you can expect it to last even with a few choice engine mods.
Consider dumping the C4 and use a pinto 4 speed with the integral shifter. You may find that it fits the shifter hole perfectly.
