Have you put a timing light on it? Also, check that your TDC is set correctly, and not 180 deg. off. I would guess severe retard, but the timing light usually tells the tale. Also check your condenser. It can be the source of phantom power loss. I once missed a major rally because the timing plates in the base of the distributor were screwed up. Check them too. They can be replaced. If you want less trouble, install an electronic ignition system. Like many others I use and recommend the Allison/Crane 700 system.
