I know nothing about CAT or STOA. I have heard that at Tigers United events in the past that Alpines were simply not wanted, period. Steve Sage made it clear on this list recently that Alpines were welcome, that things were changing. If TU had been closer this year I would have tried to accept his invitation. Maybe some people have been hurt by attitudes of the past and it is hard to get over it but hopefully we can accept such invitations in the future with the same good grace they are extended.
Here in Seattle the Pacific Tiger Club is very open to members with all Rootes vehicles. The club president has a beautiful Hillman Husky and is restoring an Alpine Series IV. The newsletter editor has several Hillmans and a Series V Alpine. The Tiger owners certainly are interested in their Tigers, but Why Not??? I have been impressed with how helpful and knowledgeable club members are. I would be inclined to assume the same good intent on the part of other clubs unless some future experience suggested otherwise.
Lets show support for each other and for Rootes in general. So, time for a plug:
Are you planning on SUNI III? July 5-9, 1999 at Big Sky Montana, next to Yellowstone National Park. See you there!
[For those of you driving up from the south you can travel via Alpine, Wyoming which is about 100 miles south of Yellowstone].
