I've been following the posts on the lack of support for Alpines at Tiger meets and clubs. Being that I own both Alpines and Tigers I felt I should comment on this matter. Its very hard for a one model club to try to service other models even if they are from the same Marque...... I feel what is trully needed is a Alpine or better yet a all Rootes Group Club.. Back in the 70's-80's I was president of the Sunbeam Car Club and although this was a all Rootes club, 85% of the members were Alpine owners. So.....in my opinion a all Alpine club would work. After all we have three Tiger clubs and only a little over 7000 were built. With over 69,000 Alpines this club should fly.
In our prime, the Sunbeam Car Club had about 650 members worldwide. So this is my proposal: stop bitching about the Tiger clubs not giving you support...start up a Alpine only club. Or better yet, like we had a all Rootes club.
I still have old newsletters, articles and would be willing to lend a hand getting the new Sunbeam Car Club going again. Many of our old members our still owners and our customers so the Classic Sunbeam data base could be used to contact people.
