I recently joined the Alpines mailing list and would like to introduce myself and my Alpine. My name is Brad Sahr, and I live in Oakdale, MN. Oakdale is a suburb about 10 minutes north east of St. Paul.
I bought the Sunbeam in '85. It is a '64 Series IV with automatic transmission. The engine was completely dismantled when I bought the car and it was rebuilt it after locating a suitable block. I installed a Weber DCD carburetor, and drove the car for several summers. Body and paint work were completed in '94. This spring I've installed a new brake booster and electronic ignition. The interior needs completion as it was completely gutted for sand blasting and floor panel replacement. I also need to fit the new convertible top.
I'm driving the car now and its great to be driving it again. Very satisfying indeed.
I may be able to offer assistance to others here, but I do need some assistance from (hopefully) one or more of you that may have experience with the Weber DCD carburetor as well as the Alpine's Borg Warner Type 35 automatic transmission. I will post on these subjects shortly.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences. Having a club like this (it really IS a club) makes the experience of owning an Alpine that much better.
