Well, I did it. I bought the SIII shell this weekend. VIN # B9201261 GT LRX SB 39 (That's for you Scott). Went out to Dan's yard. In 100 degree heat, we pushed and pulled three Alpines out of the way, then went to work on mine. 3 of the tires held air - and probably only because they are wire wheels with tubes. The fourth held long enough for us to push and push and not get anywhere. The problem? Dirt had piled up around the tires, or the tires sunk into the dirt, so that we were trying to push the car out of a hole. We hooked up a cable to the car from Dan's pick up and pull it forward just enough to get it out of the holes. Then it went fine the rest of the way. When we pushed the car up the steep ramps on my trailer, we had blocks in hand to stop the car from rolling backwards. Never needed them. It was like the car was jumping out of the yard!

Everyone got to see it at Jarrid's Alpine get together. (Great job Jarrid. Thanks for having everyone.)

I dropped it off at the body shop and picked up my Bentbeam. He actually said that they are low on work so that they will probably start on it right away! Last time it took months. I decided on the Commodore Blue.

Dan also let me borrow a copy of "Weekend Racer". It was not the production movie I assumed. It is a neat one hour 1967 documentary of sorts about three people who buy a sports car to get into racing. It shows some great scenes from SCCA racing in 1967. One driver got a Bug-eyed Sprite ("Frog-eyed" for our English listers). One driver got a Shelby Mustang. And, our hero, a local doctor, got a SII Alpine. Lot's of hoakeyness. But, lots of fun too. The best scene was when the Alpine was charging down the straight along side of an MGA, neck and neck. The MGA got the lead going into the turn as our hero backed off a little. Too bad the MGA didn't make it through the corner! Heh heh.

Anyway, I had about 3 hours of sleep last night. So, I'll provide more details later.
