The first time I tried to do this was on a Minx, and I did something wrong, which caused one of the arms to swing around and smash my face. $%^&, that hurt.

My memory is a bit fuzzy (probably because of the dint in my face) but I think on my Alpine I just used a pair of pliers to ease the spring end out of its resting place and back in again.
