I took my Alpine V up into the interior of beautiful British Columbia, 300 miles one way. Despite the oil leaking from the timing chain cover (I went through a liter of oil every 2 hours) I was mainly cruising between 75 and 80 mph at about 4000 rpm.

Some of the big hills brought me down to 55 mph while I pushed 90 mph (4500 + rpm) going down again.

This was the only trip where I had confidence in the engine. I just installed a '69 GT. 1725. I was going to fix the leaking oil before I left which meant removing the radiator so I never did put in coolant. As a result I did the trips which only fresh water in the system and the thermometer barely moved above 80F and it was hot outside.

Also, I just put on new tires on my 14" wires. 14" 175 70's. I can feel now that the front end needs to be tightened.

I did the trip twice without a mishap.
