The early cars (Series I and II) had far less seat adjustment than the Series III-V cars. Bob Flak's post confirms what I have heard about Alpines: they are one of the most spacious of the '60s sportscars for taller drivers. The Alpine design includes larger doors for easier entry, more room in the footwells for your "gunboats", and multiple adjustments of pedals, seat, and telescoping steering column. You can get more info, specifications, and a buyers guide on the Sunbeam Alpine Web Page at http://www.team.net/www/rootes/sunbeam/alpine/mk1-5/index.html Don't even try to cram yourself into an MGA, but I've heard MGBs are better.
I am 5'9", drive a Series II, and am very comfortable on long trips, despite the limited seat adjustment. 'Hope you find an Alpine that fits you.
