I had understood that there was no factory mirror and that all mirrors were installed by the dealers, using whatever was available locally. So, I had assumed that my mirror was just one of those. Of course, I long ago tossed my mirror because it was rusted and pitted. Fortunately, the only real reason I did that was because you can (or could 5 years ago) still pick up a brand new one at Pep Boys for just a few bucks. I think I just might use it again now instead of something else.
I had the MG TF fender type thin chrome mirrors on my Alpine fenders. Which, again in my personal humble opinion, need to go forward of the center of the wheel. I'm thinking that I will not put them on the pointy fin SIII. Don't need points at both ends. We'll see.
Ok, now the other stuff. First, R&T has a really neat article about what the various F1 racing engine manufacturers do to their engines. They don't give many details. But, it is neat to see some of the stuff - very Jarrid-esque. One quote in particular was right on: "a modern racing engine teeters between producing gobs of power - or not even running." So, I figure our Alpines were way ahead of their time in this balance!
Second, I saw a brand new Chrysler 300M this weekend. This is Chrysler's flagship car, sort of their Cadillac. I was most impressed. I only saw it parked so I didn't get a feel for the full proportions of the car. I say that because I am not sure that the front does not look a bit small and out of proportion. But, the interior was real smart. The dash harked back to the glory years of American motorcars. The exterior was also extremely nice, especially the trunk area. Imagine that, thinking a trunk area looks nice? But then we do drive a Volvo, so anything outside of the box looks nice!
Have a great day.
