I had inquired about replacing trunk springs. This weekend, I took off the
outside trunk hinges on my car so that I can bring them to the body shop
with the new body so they can better match the trunk edges. After I had
the hinges off, the back end of the trunk was sticking up. For some
reason, I decided to rotate it around. It the process, the springs just
fell out! So, given the standard Workshop Manual lingo, "To replace,
reverse process above." Of course, I would not want to be handling a
freshly painted trunk like that. I also think that I must have been doing
something like that when I installed them the last time and ended up
springing the inside trunk hinge around and up into the fender, putting a
nice dent into it.
I think this is one of those things I am going to use a lot of towels,
padding and tape, and possibly an extra person.
