Tim,
I own a 66 SV, with a 2.6 V-6. Recently, I purchased a mustang II with a 2.8
which had a stock 4 speed manual transmission. I used the bell housing to
install a 5.0 mustang 5 speed (and yes, you do have to do some modification to
the tunnel), but the 5 speed is everything I hoped it would be. No more
straining at freeway speeds. The lower gears seem to be just fine. I just
thought I would write to expel the myth that Mustang II's only have AT's.
With the headers you will have to either build your own or contact Joe
Rodriguez in Federal Way, WA. He has the headers in stock. I built my own
and they work just fine. It can be done. I plan to later go to the 2.8 which
will need a different set of headers (oh what fun). If you have any questions
on your conversion, please feel free to contact me and I will try to help.
