Although these cars seem to be unloved in the US, they have a loyal band of
followers in the old Empire. Maybe there could be a reverse export
opportunity here. I think good body panels and interior trim in particular
would be in demand in Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

Subject: Alpine GT Fastback questions
I have the "opportunity" to purchase a '70 Alpine GT fastback parts
car. Since there's not a lot of interest among enthusiasts for the
these cars, the only useable parts are those that are common to the
Series 5 Alpine. The intake, carb and exhaust manifold are
definitely different.
If there's anyone out there who knows something about these cars, will
you please answer the following questions:
1. Are there any significant differences between 1725 in this car and
the one in a S5 that would prevent it from being bolted into a S5?
2. Is there any difference in the head design, compression ratio, cam
profile or crank design?
3. This car comes with a 4 spd gearbox. Is it exactly the same as
the one used in a S5?
4. It also comes with a spare automatic gearbox (the owner says it's
a Borg Warner). Is this the same unit used on earlier Alpines?
If you have any interest in Fastback parts or an entire car, please
let me know.
Thanks for your assistance.
