30 years ago when the car was popular there was nothing to match the size of
the car to tow....I don't think an alpine 4 or the stock transmission or
rear end would take the strain.....the trans and rear end have been quoted
for overstressing at 140 hp which I think in engineer terms would equate to
less that the stress of what I'm towing....Take into perspective that the
Dana 44 rear was used in internation scouts and plowed snow back east for
many years...A beefed c-4 trans will handle 300 hp + and the bumper and
floor...who knows.......If you design a better mousetrap I would love to see
it....Tiger Tom has a really nice hitch on his tiger that will probably pull
a tractor trailer..maybe he will share his experience witht he group too
