Soft top question

Not having ANY prior experience with convertable tops, because I wanted it
done right, in June I had my Series II top put on by a professional (top
notch) trim shop (for $350.00 labor!!). I bought a Robbins top from Curt at
SS and they did a great job.

Here in Chicago, its not going to be top-down weather much longer (I did have
it out yesterday though after the Bears game). After the drive, I thought I'd
put it away with the top up. I needed channel locks to close the top
clamps!!!!! The top wasn't nearly that hard to latch right after I got it.
I've only had it up once this year (getting caught in a HAIL storm!).

Do tops in general and Robbins tops in particular have a tendancy to shrink or
stretch over time? Will keeping it latched over the winter stretch it some?
Will parking it in the sun (when its around again) help it stretch some?
Thanks.
