Despite what you may read and see in Practical Classics and Car Restorer, it
is always better to bolt on new sheetmetal parts than to cut, fabricate, and
weld patch panels. Unless you like working in sheet metal, or are very
masochistic. There are some serious compound curves on the boot lid, and it
would definitely be a job for a pro. With nearly 20,000 SVs produced,
someone must have an S V or boot lid. Do you have a supply source in the
Bay area? Check with Rick at SS. If he doesn't have one, he probably knows
who does. Maybe there is a stray Mk IA donor Tiger around?
