Hello Alpiners,
This year I finally got a '67 ser V at the beginning of July 98, s/n
B395008833,
had not run in 22 years, so the story goes. Have a friend here in s/w PA
with a '67 that he has had since '76, my Mom and Dad had his and her
Tigers back in the sixties.
I have subsequently put 1700 miles on my car after
rebuilding/resealing/replacing brake system, clutch, engine, carbs etc.
and it has been a happy delightful little car except for one major
irritation. Please, does someone out there have a LH rear brake return coil
spring? This small wound torsion spring is attached to a post on the outside
of the backing
plate and helps return the emergency brake actuating lever to the off
position as well as repositioning the slave cylinder on the backing
plate. The RH side is there and doing it's job. I've tried lightly
lubing the sliding surfaces of the backing plate and slave, and adding a
compression spring on the rod that actuates the LH side, all to little
avail. The result is that occasionally after emergency brake use the LH
brake sticks on, not enough to notice powerwise until the brake temp
reaches about 4000 degrees at which point I can smell it cooking my new
wheel bearing/seal! Any suggestions or substitutions will be much
appreciated. Thanks to all who contribute to this group, I've learned a
lot.
