I am assuming you had them put a big dish in the pistons to lower CR?

J&E pistons in huntington beach CA made mine for $240, but that was the
jobber
price it would have cost over $300 had I bought them myself.
J&E makes good pistons, but has some strange sales dogma, like
if the psiton is not for an american car, it costs something like $25 more
each.
We fooled them though, since the pistons were gonna be used with chevy
type con rods and pins, we told J&E, it was for a sleeved chevy II 4 banger.
If the venolias are forged, and I can spec a special bore size, $280 is well
within
budget for a hot alpine motor.
