Mind if I use that one Bob?

I'm not entirely convinced that that picture is of "Old No. 1" though. It
bears a striking resemblance to the picture I have for No. 2. The first two
types were completely different designs so it seems likely they also looked
different.

No. 1, unlike No. 2, had solid wooden wheels too. The wheels in Bob's
picture look suspiciously as though they might have rubber tyres fitted. Of
course it might just be artistic licence.

I might see what my contacts in the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq Register make of
it.

Whatever, No. 1 definitely did not use the diamond wheel pattern.

As a result of this I have just discovered conflicting information on my
site too. In different sections I describe No. 2 variously as a single
cylinder and a twin cylinder. Most sources describe it as a twin cylinder,
but according to Nickols and Karslake's "Motoring Entente", the definitive
pre-war Sunbeam text, it was a single cylinder.
